The Hope-Action Inventory (HAI) measures seven hope-action competencies and returns a personalised eight-page report. This page explains how to buy it and how to take it.
If you already have a key
You do not need to buy anything. Create an account, sign in, and choose Take Assessment in the menu. Skip to step 4 below.
Buying the Hope-Action Inventory
1. Choose how many units you need
Go to Hope-Action Inventory and set the quantity. One unit covers two administrations by the same person — an initial assessment and a later one. The HAI is designed to measure development over time, so single administrations are not sold separately.
2. Create an account
An account is required to complete a purchase; you can create one during checkout. Please choose the option that describes you, because it determines the instructions you receive:
- Individual user — job seeker, student, or client taking the inventory yourself.
- Career service provider — coach, counsellor, teacher, HR professional, or institution administering it to others.
3. Receive your key by email
After payment, a key and instructions are emailed to you. The key is a short code such as qf7hrq. Career service providers share this key with the people they are assessing. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder and then contact us.

4. Start from the menu
Sign in and choose Take Assessment. You will be offered two ways to answer, and you can pick either:
- All questions on one page — suited to a desktop or laptop screen.
- One question at a time — suited to a phone.
Both versions contain the same 28 items and produce the same scores.
5. Enter your key
You will be asked for your key before the questions begin. If it has already been used the maximum number of times, or has expired, you will be told straight away rather than after answering.
6. Read your report
The report appears as soon as you finish, and a copy is emailed to you. It gives your score on each of the seven competencies against a comparison group, an interpretation of each score, suggested strategies, and an action plan. You can also download it as a PDF.
The report is available in English, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Use the language switcher at the top of the page.
7. Take it again later
Your unit includes a second administration. We suggest returning after two to three, six, or nine months of deliberate effort on the competencies, and comparing the two reports.

- 1–99 units: $6.00 each
- 100–499 units: $5.00 each
- 500+ units: $4.00 each
